Official emblem for G20 Seoul Summit unveiled
The Presidential Committee for the G20 Seoul Summit unveiled the event’s official symbol Thursday.
Chosen through a nationwide contest, the symbol incorporates two images. A red and blue Chung-sa-cho-rong traditional Korean lantern covers light representing the sunrise over the East Sea.
“This official symbol represents Korea’s commitment to furthering the work of the G20 and helping to guide the world economy beyond the financial crisis,” said Sakong Il, chairman of the Presidential Committee for the G20 Summit.

The symbol will be used by the Korean government and media in welcoming leaders who will be participating in the G20 Seoul Summit on Nov. 11-12.
“The lantern represents welcoming traditions of Korea and guidance the Summit aims to provide to the world economy. The radiance in 20 different shades represents the member countries,” a Committee official explained.
The G20 organizing committee chose the design through a contest held between April 5 and May 7. The design originally belonged to Jang Dae-young, a university student.
The official website (www.seoulsummit.kr) was also launched, in Korean and English.
